THE ORGINAL SIN

The narrative of the Fall, rooted in the biblical interpretation of Genesis chapters 1-3, recounts Adam and Eve residing in the Garden of Eden. Influenced by a serpent, they consumed fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, leading to their awareness of nudity and subsequent covering with leaves. As a consequence, they were promptly expelled from the Garden by God, who stationed a Cherubim wielding a flaming sword to guard the tree of life.

SCIENCE AND THE FALL

This tale holds profound significance in Christian theology, particularly concerning the concept of redemption through Jesus Christ. However, scientifically, the notion of all humanity descending from Adam and Eve contradicts genomic findings indicating our ancestry spans back to at least 10,000 individuals, not merely two. Additionally, anthropological evidence identifies Homo sapiens, Neanderthals, and Denisovans as distinct human species, with Homo sapiens and Denisovans still existing today.

THE SERPENT

An alternative interpretation of this story posits that the serpent symbolizes fear and awe, embodying power and renown akin to ancient Egyptian pharaohs who adorned themselves with cobra crowns.

LEFT BRAIN  – TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL

Pursuing power involves engaging with society, employing logic, science, and technology—attributes associated with the left brain or the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

RIGHT BRAIN – TREE OF LIFE

Conversely, following the right brain or the tree of life leads to a realm transcending life and death. Recent research suggests that activation of the right brain, or Tree of Life – can induce bliss, reduced self-awareness, altered bodily perception, decreased pain sensitivity, and a sense of cosmic unity, akin to experiences during orgasm when the right brain is highly active and the left dormant.

FLAMING SWORD – RATIONALITY

The flaming sword symbolizes rationality, embodying the sword’s nature to analyze, cut, dissect, and divide—traits linked to the left brain. Positioned at the eastern edge of the Garden, it blocks access to the tree of life, symbolizing the quest for eternal life and immortality.

GARDEN OF EDEN – INNOCENT CHILDHOOD

After partaking of the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve experienced shame upon realizing their nakedness. The Garden of Eden represents innocent childhood, where children navigate the world through intuitive, right-brain perception, free from the complexities of good and evil, and they do not feel shameful in front of other people. Around age seven, the left brain develops more actively, bringing awareness of others and moral concepts—similar to the acquisition of knowledge of good and evil. And that’s the sword barring them from childhood. This evolving consciousness mirrors the initial fall experienced by all children, echoing ancient Egyptian myth.

DECLARATION OF NEO-GNOSTIC CHRISTIANITY

In short, while the Fall is paramount to Traditional Christian theology, scientific explanation gives us knowledge of the human psyche by which we can devise the most effective way to unite with God. Jesus said in the Gospel of Thomas 22, “If you make two into one, … then you will enter the kingdom of God.” Making two into one implies the freedom of the left brain from thought and the right brain from emotion. The moment when your mind is free from both thoughts and emotions is called “EPIPHANY” – a moment of a sudden realization or sudden revelation of your divine nature. Buddhists call that moment “Samadhi” or “Moksha.” Various methods available to attain this liberation; hence, the necessity of a savior or grace is unnecessary.

This is the declaration of Neo-Gnostic Christianity.
